Question Extending to Guild Wars: Eye of the North

I am planning to buy Guild Wars: Eye of the North, but need to know some things.

-I currently have an incomplete character playing on Guild Wars: Nightfall; will it be more handy to complete a campaign, and then extend?

-When extended, can you play in whole Tyria, or just the new regions?

-Will the playing time be enough to play until the release of Guild Wars 2?

Thanks for reading, and please do answer these questions if you have a proper answer!

- I wouldn't say "handy". You'll get more experience playing the game if you finish one campaign, and the mobs in EotN can be tougher in many respects.

-Just the new regions, you'll need to buy Proph to do it all

-Depends on how quickly you play through it, and how quickly they get GW2 out. I'm inclined to say "yes, absolutely" but maybe I'm just pessimistic.
-Note: The storyline in EotN is not very long, but if you are talking about all the dungeons in both normal and hardmode and some of the other content like titles and such, then it really does depend on how much time you put in and how well you play the game (which is where facing the tougher mobs end-game NF would be handy)

Due to the Buff in EN, that sets your health and attributes to a set point. It doesn't matter what you do first between Campaign and Expansion. However, for storyline, if you care about that, the order would go Prophecies/Factions (they take place at the same time), Nightfall, then Eye of the North.

Just the new regions. In order to play in Prophecies areas, you need to buy Prophecies. Sorry.

No, All 4 games can be beat within a week if you try. Factions and Eye of the North can be beaten in a day each easily. Titles is what currently keeps people busy till GW2. If you don't care for titles, multiple characters or going through the game(s) in Hard Mode and Elite Areas for fun.

I like to finish one story after the other, so I'd say finish Nightfall first. EotN is lvl 20 content, so if you already have a fully fledged character with additional heroes before going North, it's a bit more enjoyable. Should decide for yourself though.

You can only play in the new regions.

-Will the playing time be enough to play until the release of Guild Wars 2?

Depends on your playing style. If you are only doing main missions, you can complete EotN in a few days. But completing all sidequests, dungeons and everything Hardmode related will take a month or two-three of casual play. And as nothing is known about GW2's release date, there can't be much said about keeping you occupied until then. Does it matter?

Additional information on Wiki.

Pretty sure he means pessimistic, as in the release date for GW2 being very far in the future, thus giving the OP plenty of time to explore EotN.

Thumbs up

Alright then, I know enough now. I have thought of buying the campaings Prophecies and Factions too, so I have them all except the Eye of the North expansion. I'll complete them all and then extend to Eye of the North.

Thanks for all replies!

I took it as there wouldn't be enough before GW2.

I bought Prophecies & EotN which came in the same box, if you're buying Proph anyway you should maybe keep an Eye (le Pun) out for the combo pack

Get Guild Wars Factions Platinum Edition. It bring both Factions and Prophecies as well as the Bonus mission pack. It's the same price as Factions or Prophecies by itself, so it's mroe worth it ;-)
